Bird response to wildfire differs by species and is dependent on many factors including the severity of the wildfire.  By studying bird community response to wildfire we learn about ecological responses to natural components of our ecosystems.  Our wildfire research provides a context for our efforts to study the effectiveness fire-adapted ecosystem restoration efforts, which include many fuel reduction projects that are ongoing throughout the Klamath-Siskiyou Bioregion.  Much of our wildfire research has been completed in the Quartz Fire in the Applegate Valley.
