Aquatic Bird Monitoring

Oregon Coordinated Aquatic Bird Monitoring Programwegr_3_jl

KBO created the Oregon Coordinated Aquatic Bird Monitoring Program (OCABMP) in 2008 as a result of the widely-expressed need to coordinate monitoring efforts and help address knowledge gaps related to aquatic birds.  Regional and local population levels and trends have not been well understood for many groups of aquatic birds as this information is difficult to compile when survey years and methods are not compatible.  KBO is helping address these gaps by facilitating and coordinating monitoring efforts statewide.

fote_4_jlBy working with other partners such as the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and aligning goals with the Intermountain West Coordinated Bird Monitoring Program, we are able to better understand population levels and trends in Oregon and beyond.  For more information, click the links below or contact KBO Research and Monitoring Program Manager Karen Hussey.
