KBO is currently contributing to the Western Colonial Waterbird Survey effort.  This west wide U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service effort will be implemented from 2009-2011 on 17 species in 11 western states.  Currently, KBO and partners are documenting species composition, size and location of tree-nesting, ground-nesting, and marsh-nesting waterbird breeding colonies for select target species throughout southern Oregon .
