Bird Banding Techniques Training Workshops
Each year, Klamath Bird Observatory and Redwoods Sciences Laboratory present bird banding techniques workshops. These workshops are a great opportunity to learn new, and refresh old, bird banding skills. Topics covered include songbird ageing and sexing techniques such as understanding and using molt and plumage characters and skulling, bird and bander safety, effective public interaction and education at banding stations, and net repair. Training is provided by North American Banding Council certified trainers and follows NABC banding guidelines. The workshops involve seminars, demonstrations, and experiential learning.
The workshops usually take place at Klamath Bird Observatory’s field station near Rocky Point, Oregon on the western shore of Upper Klamath Lake during the field season (May-October). Click here to contact Robert Frey for more information.
